“Time” magazine just released a list of the 50 most influential gadgets of all time. Their technology editors and writers put it together, and they definitely made some bold choices. Here’s the top five . . .
- The iPhone. It was the first phone that was just a touch screen, and it introduced the concept of the app.
- The Sony Trinitron. It was the first really good color TV, and the most popular one.
- The Apple Macintosh computer. It showed that people wanted computers that were more user friendly.
- The Sony Walkman. It was the first simple, portable music player that was affordable.
- The IBM Model 5150 PC. It was the beginning of the personal home computer era.
Other gadgets that made the list were the Victrola record player in sixth place . . . the iPod in ninth . . . the VCR in 12th . . . Nintendo in 15th . . . the Polaroid camera in 27th . . . the Fitbit in 42nd . . . and the Segway in 48th. (Time)
