A 67-year-old guy in New York named David Norman suffered from addiction as a teenager, and started selling drugs. Then he got into a street fight about 25 years ago, and the other guy died. So he spent six years in prison for manslaughter.
And that’s when he decided to turn his life around. So he’s been drug-free since he got out of prison, and counsels other inmates after they get released now.
And even though he’s in his late 60’s, he regretted never getting an education. So he started taking classes a while back . . . and earlier this month, he graduated from an IVY LEAGUE SCHOOL.
He got his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Columbia University, and he was the oldest person in his class by far. The average graduate was 29, so he’s almost 40 years older than that.
In addition to counseling, he also works as a research assistant at the school. And he’s planning to write a book about his experience now that he’s done with college.
