Houston had more severe flooding last week, but here’s at least one good story that came out of it.
A reporter for an NBC affiliate named Phil Archer was out on a boat last Tuesday, checking out the flood damage with some cops. And he spotted a dog sitting on someone’s back porch . . . with water up to its NECK.
It turned out the owner left it tied to their porch when they evacuated. And the water was still rising, so if it had been there another hour, it would have drowned.
But Phil and another guy jumped into the water . . . managed to untie it . . . got it into their boat . . . and posted a video of the whole thing online. (Watch it here.)
The Humane Society named her Archer for now, and luckily she’s fine. It looks like she might be part border collie and part golden retriever, and several people are already on the waiting list to adopt her.
Also, once Phil and the cops dropped her off, they decided to go back to the same area to see if anyone else left pets behind . . . and they ended up saving five MORE dogs. (NBCDFW / Houston Chronicle)
