New at AMC Showplace 10 Theaters in Mattoon this weekend:
- “The Conjuring 2“ (R)
Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson return as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. In the first movie they went to a haunted farmhouse in Rhode Island. In this one they go to London to help a mom whose kids are threatened by a poltergeist.
As some of you know, the Warrens were real investigators who went to the house from the “Amityville Horror” in 1976 and backed up the Lutz family’s claim that the house was haunted. The events from this movie take place a year after they went to Amityville.
- “Warcraft“ (PG-13)
Orcs invade to escape a desolate, dying land. Most of them are determined to annihilate the human army. But a few others want to peacefully colonize and rebel against their leader, a warlock whose use of dark magic has destroyed their world.
Travis Fimmel from “Vikings” is the human hero . . . Paula Patton is a half-orc who convinces the humans to consider working with the rebel orcs . . . and the orc hero is a guy named Toby Kebbell, who played Dr. Doom in the failed “Fantastic Four” reboot.
