Hotel managers in Springfield say the state’s budget woes are starting to hurt their bottom line. “The State Journal Register” reports state spending on hotel and conference rooms fell off last year. Illinois only had a temporary budget for about six months. More than 40 percent of hotel rooms in Springfield are empty, and those that are filled by lawmakers and state workers are paid-for months later.
