Illinois’ largest public employee union is offering to give up one of its raises if Governor Rauner will come back to the bargaining table. AFSCME is looking to avoid being told to take-or-leave the state’s final offer. Yesterday, the union offered a wage freeze, but asked for other pay bumps, as part of its latest offer. Governor Rauner’s office says the union’s proposal doesn’t bridge a three-billion-dollar gap between the two sides.
