You’re More Likely To Catch Flu After Cold Snap
(Undated) — A new study says cold weather is a prescription for coming down with the flu. Researchers in Sweden found that the first seasonal flu outbreaks showed up about a week after the first cold spell of winter. They studied more than 20-thousand people over three years and they say the pattern was consistent. Each year, the first really cold week with temperatures below freezing and low humidity seemed to trigger the spread of the flu. The lead author of the study says the sudden drop in temperature seemed to kickstart the outbreak. The study is published in the “Journal of Clinical Virology.”
