Illinois Lawmakers Approve School Funding Compromise
(Springfield, IL) — Illinois school leaders are halfway to not having to worry about their finances this year. The IllinoisHouse yesterday approved a school funding compromise. The state Senate has to approve the plan today. The compromise provides about 415 million-dollars in new money for Chicago schools, establishes a system to measure how much help local schools need from the state, and creates a new scholarship tax credit to give some kids a choice where they go to school. Governor Rauner last night said there’s plenty in the plan to ‘celebrate.’
