MATTOON – The story and activity program for pre-kindergarten children and siblings will be offered on Mondays at 4:30 p.m. in addition to its traditional 10 a.m. Tuesday time slot. The program theme and related activities will be the same on Monday and Tuesday.
“Adding an afternoon time slot makes it possible for parents who are unavailable to bring their children to the library in the morning to enjoy our growing story time activity,” said library director Carl Walworth. “We’ve had several parents and caregivers who have said a late afternoon program would better work in their schedule.”
JoEllen Fryman leads the story time, which typically attracts 20-30 children and their parents, grandparents and caregivers on Tuesday mornings. “The energy and enthusiasm from the children makes this so satisfying and enjoyable to be a part of,” Fryman said. “Children love stories and interactive activities. They also enjoy time to play with the legos, the trains, musical instruments and sensory boards.”
The story time activities take place on the second floor of the library, 1600 Charleston Ave.
