HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING…
TEMPERATURE…High temperatures will be in the lower 90s again this afternoon.
* HEAT INDEX VALUES…Heat indices will peak between 100 and 107 degrees during this afternoon.
* IMPACTS…The combination of heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure. The very young, the elderly, those without air conditioning, and those participating in strenuous outdoor activities will be the most susceptible. Also, car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of water, wear light-weight loose-fitting clothing, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. When possible, reschedule strenuous outdoor activities to early morning or evening hours. Never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency, call 9 1 1.
