(Undated) — The co-founder of Fountains of Wayne is dead after contracting the coronavirus. Adam Schlesinger died from complications caused by COVID-19 yesterday at the age of 52. Schlesinger played in several other bands and received Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for writing the title track for the 1996 film That Thing You Do, but he and Fountains of Wayne are best known for their 2003 Grammy-nominated song “Stacy’s Mom.” A statement from the band’s attorney called him a “prolific talent” and a “loving and devoted father, son, and friend.”
