White Sox Name La Russa Manager
(Chicago, IL) — Three-time World Series champion manager Tony La Russa is returning to where it all started. The Chicago White Sox have named La Russa their next skipper. La Russa held the same position with the Sox from 1979-1986, winning 522 games. The 76-year-old went on to manage the Athletics and most recently the Cardinals from 1996-2011. He helped guide the Cardinals to two World Series rings in a six-year span and has been named Manager of the Year four times in his career. La Russa ranks third all-time with 2,728 managerial wins. He has also spent time as Chief Baseball Officer of the Arizona Diamondbacks and recently worked in the Red Sox front office.
