The Lake Land women’s basketball team received their 2021 NJCAA Division II national championship rings this past Saturday.
The Laker’s impressive route to victory includes a record season with an overall record of 25-2. While at nationals, the Lady Lakers were averaging 65 points a game while their opponents received an average of 51 points per game. Lake Land never allowed the point differential to grow larger than 5. Their opponents were not allowed more than 55 points in any of the four games. In the deciding game, Lake Land defeated Johnson County with a final score of 53-49.
This marks the first national title in program history for Lake Land College, and follows a record season for the Lady Lakers. The Lake Land women’s basketball team was coached to victory by David Johnson, now in his 19th year as head coach and social sciences educator at LLC. Assistant Coaches include Tom Titus and J.R. Hodges.
