(Ukraine) — Reports say Russia has launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Several U.S. officials report Russia is firing cruise missiles at Ukraine and is launching an air, land and sea assault right now. There were hopes Russian President Vladimir Putin would limit Russian hostilities to pro-Russian parts of Ukraine, but those hopes are gone. Explosions have rocked the capital city of Kyiv The casualties could potentially be in the thousands — numbers not seen since World War Two.

(Undated) — Former President Donald Trump says the Russian invasion is a very sad thing for the world and many people affected by the conflict. Speaking on Fox News, Trump believes Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted to negotiate but the situation escalated quickly. He added he believes America’s faulty withdrawal from Afghanistan likely led Putin to believe he could take this military action. It comes as Putin has ordered a military operation in eastern Ukraine and there have been multiple reports of explosions across the eastern European country.

Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy warned if Biden doesn’t impose new sanctions on Russia, “our own security will soon be at risk.” Meanwhile, Virginia Senator Mark Warner says we can no longer hold out hope that this standoff will be resolved peacefully. Warner added we must all work together to show Russian President Putin that this aggression will not be allowed to go unpunished. This comes as Biden has promised to hold Russia accountable for this “premeditated war.”

Ukrainian officials are reporting at least six deaths, several injuries and 19 people unaccounted for as it appears the push to avoid war in Europe has failed. Explosions and sirens have been going off for hours with reports of Russian forces having lost a number of tanks, planes and helicopters as they move across the border.
