Imagine going into work, receiving a Keno ticket, and winning big. This is what happened to Shirley Rose, 79, while working at Kowloon Restaurant in Saugus.
Shirley Rose came to work on her day off to help fill in for a coworker. As Ms. Rose was working, a man by the name of Eddie asked for two $10 Keno tickets. One ticket was for himself and the other one for Shirley.
Eddie asked for some numbers for the Keno card. The numbers that she gave were the dates of her birthday and her son’s, as well as a couple of other lucky numbers and her age.
Shirley put the ticket through the computer and decided to check the numbers later when she went on break.
When Shirley checked the numbers, she noticed it said, “Do Not Cash.” She atomically knew the ticket was over $600.
Shirley scanned the ticket with her lottery app on her phone and discovered they had won $2,000 each. Shirley was full of excitement and gratitude. Shirley has been working part-time since December and the money came at the right time.
Shirley could not be more thankful for what Eddie did for her. Eddie was happy that this had happened to her.
“He is special, and there is something about him… I cannot thank him enough,” Shirley said. “It gives you hope that there’s more people like him in this world than there are the bad guys.”
Not only did Shirley get a winning ticket but Eddie and his wife later learned that their grandson had been born.
