Lake Land College broadcast students receive annual Illinois Broadcasters Association student awards
Several Lake Land College broadcast students earned awards at the annual Illinois Broadcasters Association Student Silver Dome Awards.
Anthony Vonderheide, Stewardson, earned First Place Best Sales Presentation for “Sayers Brothers Cards.”
Stephanie Sample, Sullivan, earned First Place Radio Recorded Promotion for “Steph Free Bird Promo.” Sample also earned Second Place Best Radio PSA for “Mental Health PSA LLC.”
Sample and Emma Theriault, Charleston, earned Second Place Best Radio Recorded Promotion for “Reasons to be Thankful Promo.”
Madison Hunter, Assumption, earned Third Place Radio Longform Programming for “Madison Old Time Radio 2023.”
“We are so proud of the incredible work our students produce in the Broadcast Communication department at Lake Land College,” Broadcast Communication Instructor Greg Powers said. “These awards are a testament to their dedication, and it’s great to see their hard work be recognized.”

The Broadcast Communication department will also be hosting an open house on March 22 from noon to 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided at noon. Attendees will then have the opportunity to tour the college’s student-run FM radio station WLKL 89.9 The Max Alternative, explore the TV studio and production control room, and experiment with state-of-the-art camera and video equipment.
