EIU Baseball Jason Anderson Named Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year
Congratulations to EIU baseball’s Jason Anderson on being named Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year. Jason led the Panthers to their first conference regular season title since 2009 as they finished at 29-20 overall and 17-7 in the OVC. The team, which has won 14 of its last 17 games, is second in the conference in both batting average (.292) and ERA (4.88), making them one of just two teams to be top-five in both categories. As for the players, Mike O’Conor and Tyler Kapraun were named first-team All-OVC; Tyler Conklin made second-team; and Jake Ottensmeier and James Love were named to the OVC All-Freshman team. The Panthers play in the OVC Tournament this week at Mountain Dew Park in Marion. As the number one seed, they received a double-bye and will open tournament play at 11:00 tomorrow morning.
