Tom Bariether Donates to SBL Regional Cancer Center
In memory of his father Hezzy, and just in time for Father’s Day, Tom Bariether of Mattoon donated to the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Foundation to benefit the SBL Regional Cancer Center. This follows his recent donation at Mother’s Day, in memory of his Mom, Celia.
“This donation is not only in memory of my dad, but it honors the importance of dads everywhere, those living and those who’ve passed,” Bariether said. “If everyone would honor a loved one like this through a gift to the Cancer Center, think of all the patients we could help together. We’re so lucky to have Sarah Bush Lincoln in this community.”
In addition to his donation in memory of his mom, Tom also made donations in honor of his parents’ 69th wedding anniversary and in honor of his dad’s birthday. When the SBL Regional Cancer Center was built, he also made a $10,000 donation to support that campaign.
SBL President & CEO Kim Uphoff said she continues to be inspired by Tom’s donations. “I knew Tom’s parents very well. They were wonderful people and would be so incredibly proud of his dedication to helping others, all in their memory,” Uphoff said. “Tom is a special person, and we so appreciate his thoughtfulness.”
As more and more patients seek care at the Regional Cancer Center, gifts like this continue to be important SBL Health Foundation Director Amy Card said. To donate to the SBL Regional Cancer Center, contact Card at acard@sblhs.org or call 217-258-2511.
