Charleston Middle School is opening the doors for pre-season workouts ahead of track and field tryouts, giving 6th through 8th graders a chance to get moving, meet coaches, and get a feel for what this next season has in store.Â
Open gyms start on March 2nd and run through March 12th from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., with different focuses depending on the day. Tuesdays and Thursdays are geared toward speed and power, while Mondays and Wednesdays focus on distance training.
All sessions will start in the weight room, and students should come in athletic clothes and be ready to head outside with weather permitting.
Official tryouts are set for Monday, March 23rd, right after Charleston’s spring break concludes, from 3:30 to 6:15 p.m. at the middle school. A current physical is required to participate.
For students on the fence, coaches say track is one of the best ways to get faster, stronger, and more confident, no matter the sport or sports you already participate in. The first meet in 2026 is scheduled for April 8th!
