Still in need of some Spring cleaning? The City of Sullivan is making it easy to get rid of the stuff that’s been piling up. The 2026 City of Sullivan Clean Up Days run from Monday, April 20th through Friday, April 24th, with pickup dates depending on where you live in the city. Make sure to take a look at the map to find out which day your address falls.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the schedule: residents on Jackson and Hamilton Streets across the city will be picked up on Monday, April 20th. The northwest section of town is also scheduled for April 20th. The northeast section will be picked up on April 21st. The central section of town is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22nd, and the north-central area on April 23rd. The southeast section is split down the middle of Water Street, Lebanon Street, and Patterson Road, residents on the north side of Water Street, the east side of Lebanon Street, or the north side of Patterson Road will be picked up Thursday, April 23rd, while those on the south and west sides will be picked up Friday, April 24th. That Friday pickup also includes all residents on the east and west sides of Patterson Road.
When it comes to what you can put out, the accepted items list is pretty straightforward: furniture, box springs and mattresses, toys, bikes, rolled up carpets up to 5 feet in length, and miscellaneous household garbage that is bagged or bundled and weighs no more than 50 pounds. All materials must be cut to less than 5 feet in length, bundled or bagged, and stay within the 6 cubic yard limit per household. Construction materials must be less than 4 feet in length and properly bundled, with all nails pounded down.
There’s also a fairly lengthy list of items that won’t be accepted, so it’s worth double-checking before you haul everything to the curb. Among the things that will be left behind: tires, car parts, paint and solvents, yard waste, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, concrete, bricks, appliances, electronics, hazardous materials, motor oil, flammable liquids, broken glass, and animals, among others.
All items need to be at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day. Anything left behind will be the homeowner’s responsibility to remove. And keep in mind… this cleanup is only available to residential customers within city limits. If you live outside of Sullivan’s city limits, unfortunately you are not eligible to participate.
Please double check with city officials about where your address lies to not miss this opportunity!
