The Windsor/Stew-Stras Hatchets could not have started the regional championship game against Cumberland any better. After Kendra Hayes worked a 1-2-3 top of the first in the circle, WSS plated eight runs in the bottom half. That kick-started a 10-2 win for the Hatchets. Makenna Corrie delivered a two-run single. Hayes had a pair of hits in the opening frame including an RBI triple. Claire Holland, Zaida Wascher, Cameron Carey, and Mya Friese also drove in runs. The Hatchets extended the lead to 10-0 after three. Wascher and Kalia Friese provided the add-on runs batted in. Cumberland got on the board in the top of the fifth inning. With two outs, Kinley McMechan delivered an RBI-single to score Baya Carter. Ashton Tolen followed that up with a base hit to score McMechan. That 10-2 score held for the remainder of the game as Windsor/Stew-Stras took the regional title in a game played at Lake Land College.
Windsor/Stew-Stras advances to the Casey Sectional for a game on Tuesday, May 26th.
