IHSA Offering No Statewide Policy Regarding COVID-19 Exposures, Quarantines
(Springfield, IL) — School districts are looking to the Illinois High School Association for guidance on policies related to athlete COVID-19 exposures. The IHSA currently doesn’t have a statewide policy regarding quarantines, return-to-play, and virus-related game cancellations. The IHSA says those decisions are under the jurisdiction of county health departments. Districts say that means each health department can set different rules, leading to disparities in the treatment of athletes in different schools.
