Congresswoman Mary Miller Statement: Inflation Hits a New 40-Year High
Effingham, Ill. – Today, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released their latest report on the Consumer Price Index, stating that inflation rose 8.5% in March compared to March of last year. This marks the fastest rise since December 1981. Congresswoman Mary Miller (R-IL) released the statement below following this report:
“Inflation is at a 40-year high for the 5th straight month as a result of President Biden and Speaker Pelosi’s reckless spending,” Miller said. “Americans are facing an extreme economic crisis as the cost of groceries, fuel, and fertilizer continue to rise, and Biden’s plan is to pass ‘Build Back Broke,’ which would make inflation even worse. The Biden Administration repeatedly lied to the American people, telling them there was no inflation, then saying it was transitory, then saying it was good for the economy, and now saying inflation just became an issue last month after Russia invaded Ukraine. Americans are horrified by the inflation crisis, energy crisis, supply chain crisis, and border crisis created under Biden, Pelosi, and Schumer.”
