Horizon Health Announces Primary Care Clinic in Terre Haute
(Paris, IL)—To complement its growing healthcare services in Terre Haute, Horizon Health announces the addition of a primary care clinic at its Sycamore Pain & Wellness location.
The new clinic adds to Sycamore’s existing services, which include pain management, behavioral health, weight management, and bone health and wellness.
“Since we established a presence in Terre Haute, it’s been brought to our attention that a need exists for more primary care services in the area,” said Ollie Smith, Horizon Health president & CEO.
The new primary care clinic is located inside the Sycamore Pain & Wellness building at 1378 S. State Road 46 on Terre Haute’s eastside. Joy Whitt, family nurse practitioner, joins Sycamore as the clinic’s primary care provider.
“Good health starts with your primary care provider,” said Dr. Thomas Pendergast, Sycamore Pain & Wellness physician. “Joy has been a highly respected provider within our community for years. We are very fortunate to have her join Sycamore Pain & Wellness. As a member of our holistic team, Joy will provide primary care and have available our collaborative providers in pain management and behavioral health.”
Joy has 20 years of nursing experience, which includes 10 years as a nurse practitioner. She sees patients age five and older with a focus on preventative care.
“It’s a great opportunity to bring primary care to an existing pain clinic,” Joy said. “One of the biggest reasons people seek primary care is because of pain. I’m excited for the opportunity to work with the Sycamore team.”
Joy has been serving patients in the Terre Haute area since 2005. Her experience includes critical care nursing, long-term nursing care, behavioral health, and primary care.
Joy has a master’s degree in nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University, and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Urbana University in Ohio. Joy was born in Michigan and raised in Ohio. She and her husband, TJ, have four children and enjoy their hobby farm in Sullivan County, Indiana.
