Believe it or not, the days of people broadcasting their personal details on Facebook seem to be disappearing.
A website called The Information got their hands on some confidential Facebook data, and found that oversharing went WAY down last year.
People shared 21% less personal info in 2015, which includes things like baby pictures, new jobs, deaths in the family, vacations, and weddings.
We also shared 5.5% fewer news stories and videos last year. But clearly we’re more likely to be willing to spread those around than our personal info.
There are two main theories about why oversharing has gone down. One, we finally got SHAMED into stopping by all the jokes people make about sharing too much info on Facebook.
And two, people are finally freaked out by Facebook casually invading their privacy . . . like if you post your engagement photos and all the ads on your page are suddenly for wedding products.
