There’s an 11-year-old in Fort Collins, Colorado named Brady Green who has Down Syndrome. And he was supposed to transfer to a different school when he starts sixth grade later this year. Apparently it has a good special needs program.
But he didn’t want to, because he wants to keep going to school with his friends. So at a school board meeting last month, six of his classmates went up to the podium, and explained why THEY don’t think he should have to transfer.
One of them said he, quote, “lights up the room” when he’s around. And another said the whole atmosphere at their school changed when he started going there two years ago. And it’s a lot more fun to go to school now.
So the school board cleared it with the principal. And a few weeks ago, they announced he WON’T be transferring.
Brady didn’t know about it until his mom recently drove him past the middle school, and told him he’d be going there with all his friends.
His classmates also nominated him for something called the Spirit Outstanding Attitude Respect award. And the school is presenting it to him at the end of the year. (ABC News)
