New at AMC Showplace 10 Theaters in Mattoon this weekend:
Alice travels back in time to find the young Mad Hatter and save him from a dark future. But that puts her up against the incarnation of Time, played by Sacha Baron Cohen.
Mia Wasikowska returns as Alice, Johnny Depp will always be the Mad Hatter, and Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway are back as the Red and White Queens.
In case you’ve forgotten, this was also Alan Rickman’s final movie. He passed away back in January. You know him as Severus Snape in the “Harry Potter”movies, but he’s Absolem, the Blue Caterpillar, in the “Alice” movies.
Pink recorded the Jefferson Airplane classic “White Rabbit” for the movie. She also wrote a new song for it called “Just Like Fire“, which you may have seen her perform at the Billboard Music Awards.
- “X-Men: Apocalypse“ (PG-13)
The X-Men unite to stop the world’s most powerful mutant from bringing about the end of the world. Oscar Isaac from “The Force Awakens” is Apocalypse. He recruits Magneto, Storm, Psylocke, and Angel to be his “four horsemen,” if you will.
Michael Fassbender is Magneto, and Olivia Munn joins the cast as Psylocke.
James McAvoy is back as Professor X and Jennifer Lawrence returns to help train the inexperienced X-Men as Mystique. “Game of Thrones” fans will also recognize Sophie Turner as Jean Grey. You know her as Sansa Stark on “Game of Thrones”.
