A guy named Terry Myogeto was asleep in his apartment on Tuesday when his patio caught fire. Apparently a neighbor left a cigarette burning, and that’s what started it.
We’re not sure how old Terry is, but he looks like he’s in his 50’s or 60’s. And even if he’d been awake, he would have been in trouble, because he’s disabled . . . uses an oxygen tank . . . and there was a propane tank on the patio.
But luckily five elementary school kids who just started their summer break saw the fire while they were outside having a water gun fight.
So one of them ran to get help . . . another one started banging on Terry’s door . . . and the other three started fighting the fire with their SUPER SOAKERS.
The three kids with Super Soakers were Devon Johnson, Devin Darnell, and Katelyn Simon. And it looks like they probably saved Terry’s life. He says they had to refill a few times, but kept at it . . . and by the time firefighters got there, the fire was OUT.
According to the fire department, the flames got into the siding of the house. So if the kids hadn’t been there, the whole building could have gone up.
He also said they’re planning to throw them a pizza party to say thanks . . . give them a tour of the fire station . . . and they might get an award for it too.
