Two cops responded to a trespassing report on Saturday in Meriden, Connecticut, about 20 miles south of Hartford. And it turned out it was a homeless woman who was sleeping in a shed.
We don’t know her name, but the cops are John-Paul Dorais and Jeff Witkin. And they tried to find a homeless shelter that would take her . . . but apparently they were all full.
So they started talking about how much a motel would cost. Then they agreed to split it, and used their own money to put her up at a Comfort Inn for the night.
They haven’t said how much it cost, but the front desk guy gave them a discount when they told him why they needed the room.
Jeff says they also gave the woman money for food, and helped her get in touch with family members who might be able to help out. (Meriden Record-Journal /Facebook)
