As vote counting wraps up across Illinois and here locally following Tuesday night’s general election, results across federal, state, and county levels, are pretty much officially locked in. Republican incumbents in our listening area’s congressional districts won their reelection bids, with U.S. Representative Mary Miller retaining her seat in Illinois’ 15th Congressional District over Democrat Jennifer Todd, and U.S. Representative Mike Bost earned another term in the neighboring 12th Congressional District against Democrat Julie Fortier.
In the statewide races, Democrat incumbents and candidates secured wins across Illinois to maintain control of the state’s executive offices, far from a surprising result.
- U.S. Senate: Democrat Juliana Stratton won the seat over Republican Don Tracy and American Center Party Candidate Whitfield Harrington Jr.
- Governor and Lieutenant Governor: Democrat incumbents JB Pritzker and Christian Mitchell won re-election against Republican challengers Darren Bailey and Aaron Del Mar, alongside Independent candidates Collin Corbett and Carolyn Schofield
- Attorney General: Democrat incumbent Kwame Raoul won re-election over Republican Robert W. Fioretti.
- Secretary of State: Democrat incumbent Alexi Giannoulias won re-election against Republican Diane M. Harris.
- Comptroller: Democrat Margaret Croke won the office against Republican Bryan Drew
- State Treasurer: Democrat incumbent Michael W. Frerichs won re-election over Republican Max Solomon.
At the county level, local races across Central Illinois saw seamless finishes as candidate slates ran without opposition to officially secure their terms. Basically, they got the stamp of approval.
