Ripping off little kids makes you a terrible person. Ripping off charity makes you a terrible person. So imagine how depraved you have to be to do BOTH at the same time.
An eight-year-old girl from Monroe, Michigan named Maya Leachman set up a lemonade stand last week. It was to raise money for Alzheimer’s research, in honor of her 77-year-old grandfather Charlie.
Well, at one point during the day, a guy rode up on a bike and asked for change for a $50. He didn’t buy any lemonade, he just took the change and rode off.
And later that day, Maya and her mom realized the bill the guy had given them was a COUNTERFEIT $50. That’s right: He took advantage of an eight-year-old girl running a lemonade stand for charity to pass his fake money.
The cops are trying to track him down.
Maya says she’s, quote, “a little mad” about what happened, but she’s happy she was still able to raise $1,100 for Alzheimer’s research.
And now that the word has gotten out about what happened to her, she’s raised more than $2,500 on her Alzheimer’s walk fundraising page.
