There’s a 38-year-old flight attendant for Alaska Airlines named Jenny Stansel, who’s been fighting kidney disease. She’s had seven surgeries in the past year, and needs 10 hours of dialysis every night.
So she needs a kidney transplant, but hadn’t been able to find a match . . . until a PILOT she works with got tested.
The pilot’s name is Jodi Harskamp, and she’s 42. She was one of the first people to get a blood test . . . the only one who was a match . . . and the surgery is scheduled for March 13th.
She says she decided to do it because her home in Anchorage burned down about four years ago. And for the next few weeks, flight attendants kept bringing her food, so she didn’t have to cook.
Jenny was the FIRST one who showed up at her door, with lasagna and a bottle of wine. And she never forgot about it.
After that, they hung out on layovers. But obviously they’re even closer now that Jodi is saving her LIFE. Their families even spent Thanksgiving together this past year.
Jodi says Jenny’s an amazing person who deserves to stick around a lot longer. And there are about 100,000 other people waiting for kidneys in the U.S., so she hopes she inspires more people to donate. (AlaskaAir.com)
