If you’re heading somewhere for the Fourth of July and planning to caravan with another car, DON’T try to follow them. Just get the address instead. Here’s why . . .
Researchers at Arizona State just published a new study that found you’re more likely to drive like a jerk and CRASH when you’re trying to follow another car.
They had people play a virtual driving game where they either had to keep up with the person in front of them. Or just drive somewhere with a navigation system.
And when they had to follow another car, they were more likely to speed, run red lights, cut people off, and drive through crosswalks when people were crossing the street.
The car they were following didn’t speed, and didn’t break any other laws. So even if the person in front of you is going slow enough for you to keep up, it’s still more dangerous.
The guy who led the study says the next time you’re driving somewhere and need more than one car, it’s much safer to just drive separately . . . use your GPS . . . and meet up when you get there.
