Hawaii authorities say even though seismic activity has reached a lull near the Kilauea Volcano, it’s likely not over. Civil Defense Administrator Talmadge Magno says the eight fissures stemming from the volcano are now linked by lava. He added that the frequency of earthquakes has gone down and the quakes are caused by magma flow, along with gas pressure underground. Authorities are working to help residents of the Leilani Estates, which is the residential complex near the Kilauea Volcano, gather pets and belongings from their homes. At least five homes have been burned from the lava flow. Officials stressed that the volcano is unpredictable and must be addressed with caution.
