President Trump is ordering an FBI investigation into the sexual misconduct allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. The move will delay the confirmation process by a week. Trump ordered the probe after intense pressure from moderates in the GOP, and called it a “supplemental investigation” to be “limited in scope and completed in less than one week.” Kavanaugh’s nomination was approved by the Judiciary Committee Friday and sent to the full Senate for possible confirmation. Arizona Senator Jeff Flake voted to approve the nomination under the condition that the Trump administration would pursue an FBI probe of the allegations against Kavanaugh.
