The Illinois state budget impasse are now going to prevent any overtime pay for healthcare providers, who come to their disabled patients in their homes. According to WAND online a federal law that had taken effect at the beginning of this year was to make a requirement to pay time and a half for work over 40 hours. After March 1st 2016 that rule will no longer be in effect, and the law to take its place is that overtime pay will be prohibited due to the Illinois state budget crisis. SEIU Healthcare Illinois says that additional help will be hard to manage and find, while patient care suffers.
