An elderly woman in Indianapolis went to Target last week, and wanted to pay for all of her stuff with CHANGE.
The next person in line was a 35-year-old woman named Sarah Bigler, and she was annoyed because it was taking forever. Plus she was there with her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
But then she saw how the cashier was patiently helping the old woman count all her change for each item, and saying “yes ma’am” whenever she asked a question.
So instead of being annoyed, she realized it was an amazing lesson in patience and kindness for her daughter . . . AND for HER. So she posted a photo of it on Facebook last Wednesday, and made sure the manager knew how awesome the cashier was.
His name is Ishmael Gilbert, he’s 19, and it was his first week of work. After Sarah’s post went viral, he was interviewed by the local news, and a Target executive said they were planning to reward him.
But Ishmael says he tries to treat everyone with that level of respect.
