Cardinals Sweep Cubs, Clinich First Playoff Berth Since 2015
(Chicago, IL) — The Cardinals clinched their first playoff berth since 2015 after beating the Cubs 3-2 in Chicago. Dexter Fowler hit a sacrifice fly and Paul Goldschmidt doubled in a run as St. Louis rallied to take the lead in the top of the ninth. Paul DeJong homered in the third for the Redbirds. Miles Mikolas only gave up one unearned over seven and two thirds innings and Tyler Webb got the win in relief for the Cards, who completed their first four-game sweep at Wrigley Field since May of 1921. St. Louis visits the D-Backs tonight with Adam Wainwright facing Arizona’s Alex Young.
