Controversy Surrounds Mural In Effingham
(Effingham, IL) — A religious mural in Effingham is surrounded by controversy. The Freedom from Religion Foundation says the painting featuring a cross is unconstitutional. The organization is demanding that the cross be removed. Many residents say the cross is symbolic of Effingham and should stay. The mural is located on city-owned property between Effingham High School and the football field featuring an American flag on one side and a cross on the other.
