US National Weather Service Central Illinois, 5 am Update, Tuesday, May 12, 2020:
Here’s the latest on the heavy rain potential for mid week into next weekend. Odds of a widespread 3 inches remain high over a large portion of central Illinois. However, it will not be raining continuously the entire time. The most likely time frames for any significant dry weather are on Thursday in areas south of I-70, and from Friday to Friday evening from about Peoria northward. The positioning of a stationary front on Friday will be key as to what areas remain dry; a further south position would extend the dry weather southward as well.
