Let’s see…how did I get into radio you may be wondering? Well it wasn’t my first choice growing up by any means. As a teenager I always thought my calling would be Veterinary School; I grew up around livestock and showed goats & rabbits in 4H so I thought working with animals is where I wanted to be….until I dissected a cat Senior year and realized I had a very tough time grasping science class…8 years of science in College??? No way could I see myself doing that! (Kudos to all the vets out there though..so much respect for what you do! 🙂
After this realization it was a struggle finding where I wanted to head to next, so I turned to my LOVE for Music (especially country) which brought me to the Radio & Television Broadcasting Department at Lake Land College where I graduated with my Associates Degree in 2012. Afterwards, I moved on to Eastern Illinois University where I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Communication Studies in 2015.
One thing radio has done tremendously is force me to become social and come out of my personal bubble…Believe it or not, I grew up extremely shy and kept to myself quite often. While I still consider myself to be an introvert, I’ve defiantly become more of a social butterfly and I have radio to thank in large part to for that.
In my spare time you can find me listening to tons of music! I’m an old-school/Retro soul at heart and still believe in buying physical copies of CD’s; my CD collection is an ever-growing one and I listen to most genres: County , Pop, Dance, Rock, Broadway, Show-Tunes and quite a few movie soundtracks. My favorite artist of all time is Miranda Lambert (love every single song and album she records) and I also love listening to Eric Church. As far as pop goes I still love The Backstreet Boys (Finally saw em’ live in concert in 2019..Item on my bucket list crossed off!) and I also love me some Christina Aguilera (Something about the old-school sound she brings to her music I have so much respect for, and that voice…wow!). I still have the same I-Pod from Senior year in High School too!
Besides music, I’m a HUGE fan & collector of all things Disney Animation, love Harry Potter, and get a rush shopping for anything pop culture related. I love to bake sweets and I happen to watch a lot of Food Network (Although I rarely cook extravagant meals). I love the show “Friends” and have an itch for amusement parks, thrill rides and heights. I still prefer to leave the house and shop over shopping online, and I have a fetish for boots! A girl can NEVER own too many boots in my opinion; That’s all I wear on my feet during the fall and winter months.
While I’m happily single, I have a loving mom and dad, Keith & Monica, a younger brother Cody, who happens to teach Agriculture at Neoga High School, a sister-in law Cassidy and a nephew Chase. My extended family is way too big to name on just one page…you can spend all day reading about my aunts, uncles, and first cousins alone!
