Back in 1951, an 18-year-old woman named Helen Andre from Derbyshire, England was engaged to a 21-year-old man named Davy Moakes.
But her family didn’t approve of Davy because he was an artist, and they forced them to break up. Helen says, quote, “In those days, you did as you were told.”
In the seven decades since then, Davy has been married twice and Helen has been married three times . . . but all five of their spouses wound up passing away.
Helen’s daughter Debbie says she always heard her mother talk about Davy, so earlier this year she tracked him down and they reunited. And she says they were, quote, “madly in love” once they saw each other again.
So on Friday, 82-year-old Helen and 86-year-old Davy FINALLY got married, 65 years after they were forced to break up. (BBC)
