Here’s a great example of something that would work in a movie, but not real life. A 49-year-old guy in the U.K. named Craig Sullivan lost his wife to cancer about a year-and-a-half ago. And he’s finally ready to start dating again.
So he came up with a pretty romantic way to find dates. He decided to fill 2,000 glass bottles with letters that said he was looking for love. Then earlier this month, he started driving around to different beaches and tossing them into the ocean.
He was hoping they’d wash up all over the world, and women would get in touch with him. But unfortunately, most of the bottles washed up on beaches in the U.K. . . . including the same ones he threw them from. So he was basically just LITTERING.
Dozens of people who found bottles got in touch with him . . . but mostly because they were worried about the environmental impact.
One woman found about 30 of them on a single beach, and was worried the sand would get filled with glass if they broke. And he also tossed a bunch in a river, right near a salmon breeding ground.
He ended up abandoning the idea after he realized it was messing with the ecosystem. It’s not clear how many bottles he tossed out before he stopped.
But the good news is a few women DID get in touch, and he’s got a few dates lined up. (Telegraph / Wales Online)
