Unless you’re really into hiking, you probably didn’t know this. But the hiking world has its own “triple crown.”
You have to do the Appalachian Trail from Maine to Georgia . . . the Pacific Crest Trail from California to Washington state . . . and the Continental Divide Trail that runs from Montana all the way to New Mexico.
It’s just under 8,000 miles total. Only about 350 people have ever done all three. And now one of them is a NINE-YEAR-OLD from Colorado.
His name is Christian Thomas, and he goes by “Buddy Backpacker” on Instagram. His stepdad took him on a two-week trip to the Appalachian Trail when he was five, and he loved it. So they spent the next NINE MONTHS hiking the whole thing.
After that, they figured they might as well do the other two, and finished the last leg of the Continental Divide Trail back in September.
“The Washington Post” just did a big story on him because it’s officially a record. He’s now the youngest person to ever complete the hiking triple crown. (Denver Post / Backpacker.com)
